This week the white house will release the new AI and Cyber Executive Order, a pivotal step toward strengthening cybersecurity and driving innovation in AI nationwide. This landmark initiative emphasizes fortifying the software supply chain and accelerating the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies to enhance our collective cyber defenses.

Lasso is closely monitoring and tracking the new AI regulation in the United States, as well as other global initiatives. We are excited to support the initiatives outlined in the Cyber Executive Order and look forward to partnering with government agencies and private sector organizations to fortify digital infrastructure security and safety.

What Changed?

Key Initiatives in the Executive Order and AI Implications

The Executive Order introduces several initiatives designed to address pressing cybersecurity challenges and establish robust frameworks for AI integration into defense strategies:

  1. AI Cyber Challenge: Launching a pilot program to enhance cyber defense in the energy sector using AI.
  2. Advanced AI Models: Establishing a program to use advanced AI models for cyber defense.
  3. Funding for Cyber Defense Research: Prioritizing funding for large-scale, labeled datasets for cyber defense research.
  4. Research Priorities: Focusing on human-AI interaction, security of AI-generated code, and designing secure AI systems.
  5. Management of AI Software Vulnerabilities: Incorporating AI software vulnerabilities into existing management processes.

Practical Impact: Why This Executive Order Matters to You

The implications of the new Cyber Executive Order extend beyond policy updates—it’s about shaping the future of cybersecurity in an AI-driven world. With AI becoming a cornerstone of everyday business operations, the stakes include not only the effectiveness but also the risks associated with rapid AI adoption.

Key questions arise:

Is your organization prepared to handle vulnerabilities in AI-generated applications? How do you ensure that the integration of advanced AI models does not introduce new security gaps? What guardrails are you implanting to safeguard sensitive information?

For highly regulated industries like finance, healthcare, etc. the stakes could be even higher. A failure to address vulnerabilities or mismanagement of AI tools could have significant consequences, from disrupting essential services to exposing sensitive data.

Stay one step ahead of AI regulation with Lasso

At Lasso, our mission closely aligns with the objectives of this transformative Executive Order. Lasso delivers a state-of-the-art security platform designed to address the unique complexities of Large Language Model (LLM) technologies. In May 2024 Lasso took the part of Design Pledge initiative with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) alongside 68 industry giants, by participating in the pledge, Lasso committed to make a good-faith effort to work towards the goal of protecting against AI risks.

Our solutions enable organizations to safeguard their data while harnessing the full potential of AI-driven tools.

Key Features:

  • Real-Time LLM Monitoring: Gain continuous visibility into LLM interactions through an intuitive, user-friendly dashboard.
  • Detection and mitigation: Lasso’s end-to-end monitoring detects risks like prompt injections and model tampering, ensuring businesses meet these requirements and secure sensitive operations.
  • Flexible Policy Customization: set dynamic adoptive security policies to meet specific organizational requirements and industry standards. Lasso’s guardrails evolve based on context, ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant safety and privacy standards while maintaining seamless user interactions.
  • Comprehensive Training and Education: Empower teams with the knowledge and skills needed to use LLM-based technologies securely and effectively.
